National Farm Worker Week

You are encouraged, challenged and invited to do something for farm workers this month and/or during April. Below is a short list of how you can support farm workers. Les animo, los reto y los invito, a que haga algo por/para los campesinos durante este mes y/o el mes de april.

Ø March 26 through April 1st – National Farm Worker Week: sponsor or attend a prayer service, rally, action for farm workers/ esta semana es Semana Nacional del Trabajador del Campo: programen un servicio de oracion, una manifestación, una acción para trabajador del campo

Cesar Chavez Breakfast

Remember to mark April 1 for the St. John the Baptist Cesar Chavez Interfaith Breakfast in Baldwin Park.

This year's main speakers are United Farmworkers President Arturo Rodriguez and musician Francisco Herrera.

Come for an inspirational morning and a delicious breakfast.

Donation is $20 and sponsorship opportunities are available.

Relay for Life in Baldwin Park

The 2011 Relay for Life is here. For those of you who don't know - The Relay for Life is an amazing event that brings the community together in an effort to raise money for the fight against cancer because cancer never sleeps ... The Relay is a 24hourr overnight event. Cancer is something that has hit many families in many ways. We have lost loved ones and we have loved ones that are still fighting. Relay will allow us to honor and remember those we have lost to cancer - but also to help those who are still fighting. Make a difference!!

This year's Relay will be on May 14 at 9 a.m. to May 15 9 a.m. If anyone is interested in joining a team, donate to a team, or create a team of your own, please contact the Social Services office for details.

Cesar Chavez Breakfast

St. John the Baptist Social Services is pleased to announce that United Farm workers' president Arturo Rodriguez will be the main speaker. Francisco Herrera will provide music.

Now, co-sponsoring the event are CHIRLA Action Fund, United Farm Workers (UFW) and National Farm Workers Movement (NFWM).
