July 11: Advice Session for Dreamers
FREE IMMIGRATION ADVICE FOR DREAMERS!
Wed. July 11, 2012, there will be a lecture on the new Deferred Action procedure announced by President Obama for "Dreamers" in the US which will begin on August 15, 2012.
The free lecture will take place at the MEXICAN CONSULATE at 6:30 PM

Homeless Walk
United Way of Greater Los Angeles is hosting Homeless Walk 2010 The Walk to End Homelessness.
When: Saturday, November 13; registration starts 7 a.m. and walk starts 9 a.m.
Where: Exposition Park, Los Angeles
What: 5 km (3.1 miles) walk to raise money to end homelessness in Los Angeles County
Who: United Way and thousands of walkers
Info or to Register: (Cost is $35 incoluding t-shirt and parking)

Immigration Event February 1: meet a Congressman
CLUE LA (Clergy United for Economic Justice) is hosting an immigration reform event at La Placita Church (Our Lady Queen of the Angels Church) February 1 at 5:00 p.m.
Congressman Luis V. Gutierrez will meet with attendees to bring news from Washington D.C. and President Obama on immigration reform and what is needed.

Resources for Youth Dental Care and Los Angeles Homeless Prevention
There are some more resources available for families in need.
-For Free and Low-Cost Dental Services for Children and Teenagers:

They serve the San Gabriel Valley Area, including Baldwin Park, El Monte and Pomona through a partnership with the County of Los Angeles Public health Department
-For Renters At Risk of Eviction (ONLY in the City of Los Angeles)
Los Angeles City Homeless Prevention Program (LACHPP) may be able to help!
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPANT IN LACHPP?
1. Individual is a tenant and not a homeowner;
2. Tenant lives within the City of Los Angeles;
3. Tenant must be at risk of homelessness (received a written 3-Day Notice or Unlawful Detainer);
4. Tenant lacks the financial resources and support networks needed to obtain immediate housing remain in existing housing;
5. No subsequent housing options for the household have been identified; and
6. Tenants who, within six months, will have sufficient income to pay for their own housing; and
7. Tenant(s) total current income must not exceed the amounts in the table below:

1 Person $27,250 or less
2 Persons $31,700 or less
3 Persons $35,700 or less
4 Persons $39,650 or less
5 Persons $42,800 or less
6 Persons $46,000 or less
7 Persons $49,150 or less
8 Persons $52,350 or less
ARE THERE PRIORITIES FOR CERTAIN TENANTS?
Yes, the following tenants are given priority: (a) living in permanent supportive housing; (b) living in other affordable, rent‐restricted subsidized housing (Section 8, public housing, affordable housing trust fund housing); (c) living in a rent‐stabilized apartment; (d) living on a fixed income, such as SSI, SSDI, GR or CalWORKs; (e) tenants with disabilities or aged 62 years or older; and (f) homeless in the previous 24 months.
HOW DO I APPLY OR OBTAIN MORE INFORMATION?
Call Inner City Law Center at (213) 891-2880. Also, you can walk into our main office at 1309 E. 7th Street; Los Angeles, CA 90021 or the Weingart Access Center at 506 S. Main St.; Los Angeles, CA 90021, and speak to an ICLC representative.

How Can You Help?
Analysts estimate that 1 in every 8 people in Los Angeles faces issues of hunger every day. With a struggling economy, people throughout the area face issues with food, unemployment, medical care, legal matters, and financial need. They also seek assistance with family issues. St. John the Baptist is working hard to meet this increasing demand in Baldwin Park and the region.
Can you help?
Do you have jobs that need to be filled? CONTACT US!
Any donations are welcome, particularly of non-perishable food, bus tokens, food gift cards (grocery stores and restaurants) and monetary help.
In addition, the program is looking for benefactors for:
- sponsor acquisition of information resources to aid clients
- a computer to allow people to seek work on the internet
- a refrigerator to allow for distributing fresh, nutritious food
- four plastic chairs for use while serving hot meals
